Newsletter 8th /9th December, 2018
Second Sunday in Advent

The ANNUAL ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS COLLECTION will replace the SHARE COLLECTION during Mass this weekend Saturday / Sunday 8th /9th December.  Please be as generous as possible to support people who need help during the year.

Volunteers are entreated to help to put cards and other items into the envelopes provided for delivery to Catholic homes in the parish. This exercise is planned to take place at the back of the of the main church, beginning on Mon, 10 Dec, immediately after the 10'clock Mass. If there is a funeral, we will wait until the mourners have vacated the church building. It is hoped that tea/coffee may be available. I would be grateful for your assistance in this exercise.

Be a pink sheet revolutionary!
“The word of God is active and alive” says St Paul.  That means that God is always prompting and prodding us to be proactive, reaching out, and changing our lives, which is part of what conversion means.   We are surely being prodded big time by God in these times, if the daily news about climate change and the environment is anything to go by.  We Catholics can no longer drift along in face of climate catastrophe.  So, build environmental spirituality into our worship and prayer life.  And act.  If you haven’t already, start by picking up one of the pink sheets at the back of the church, and see what you can do in your own life.

Carols by Candlelight, St Begnets Church:  A great way to start Christmas, in a most evocative setting in Dalkey.  Come along and join the Taizé choir members on Sun 9 Dec at 7.30pm for a unique carol service to celebrate Christmas. The service will be led by Fr Declan in the ruins of a candlelit St Begnet’s Church (in the Heritage centre in Dalkey). This a free event and open to everyone, including children, who must be accompanied by an adult.  Wrap up warm and bring your own lantern/torch and singing voice.  If it’s raining the service will be held in the Church of Assumption.
