The Annual diocesan collection for the DIOCESAN AGENCY CROSSCARE takes place next weekend 22nd / 23rd September.

Some of the ADULT EDUCATION courses available at SION HILL, Blackrock are worth considering if you wish to expand your knowledge and understanding of the scriptures or learn about the lives of some people who profoundly influenced the church in earlier times.  For example on Mondays; you can study St John’s Gospel with Fr. Catholicism Programme: A 10 week Programme on Catholicism will take place in St. Fergal’s Church, Bray, Co. Wicklow, on Wednesday evenings commencing 3rd October 2012.  Time: 7.45p.m. - 9.00p.m.  A DVD series filmed in 50 locations throughout 15 countries illustrating the history & practices of the Church.  With Fr. Vocations to the Priesthood Men, (18-upwards) interested in priesthood are invited to set aside four mornings, (from 11.00am to 2.30pm), and a weekend, between October 2012 and March 2013 to take part in discernment (rooted in faith).  Each of the mornings will include: prayer using the Scriptures, a presentation on vocation, followed by discussion, the Mass, a meal. Topics for discussion include: What is a vocation? Diocesan statement on Avalon DVD Parishes have been contacted recently with information regarding a pre-marriage DVD course being marketed by Avalon RC Limited.  The information and the Avalon website suggest that this course meets the “Bishops’ Guidelines”.  This DVD course and online questionnaire cannot meet the Irish Episcopal Conference Criteria for Courses of Preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage and is not an acceptable course of marriage preparation in the Archdiocese of Dublin.

FAMILY OFFERING ENVELOPES The envelopes for the Family Offerings for the current year were distributed. If you have not received an envelope please collect one from the Parish Office.  If your envelope is not being collected, we would be grateful if you could bring it to Mass, and place it in the metal safe.  If you have not been contributing, and would like to begin, you can ask for envelopes from the Parish Office, or you can arrange for a direct debit with your bank.  Thank you.
