HOLY FAMILY PARISH KILL-O-THE-GRANGE

Newsletter 12th / 13th July, 2014
15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO GLENDALOUGH On Saturday 28th June a group of 30 from the parish set out on a pilgrimage to Glendalough.  As last year, we were welcomed by Sr Margaret, RSM, at the Brackagh Centre, where we enjoyed light refreshments including delicious home-made scones with jam.  We were pleased to see some new faces joining the pilgrimage this year – those involved in various ministries in the parish were well represented.  Accompanied by some spiritual reflections led by Sr Margaret we walked to the site of an ancient well, to the lower lake and to the monastic city itself.  Finally we followed the labyrinth in reflective silence.  Lunch was followed by a brief visit to the parish church viewing the icons of St Kevin and St Laurence O’Toole and the wonderful outdoor stations/ garden.  We look forward to repeating the pilgrimage in 2014

RESOURCE CENTRE will be closed for the month of August.  The Parish Office will remain open Monday – Friday 10am -1pm.

Please Keep Our Church Tidy.  Please put the Missals and music books in the holders provided and bring the newsletter home or return to the tables as you exit the church.

Lourdes 2014 The Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will travel to Our Lady’s Shrine, as is usual each year, from Sunday 7th to Friday 12th September.  We hope that about 175 sick pilgrims will travel as in former years, staying at the Accueil Notre Dame where they are very well looked after by a team of doctors, nurses, chaplains and lay helpers.  If you know of someone in the community who might benefit from the pilgrimage please get in touch with us as soon as possible.  Geraldine, in the Lourdes Office (Phone 01 837 6820), will be able to give you more information and send to you or to the person you have in mind, an Application Form.  All applications must include a completed Medical Report from the family doctor, and acceptance for travel is subject to the decision of our Chief Medical Officer.  We would particularly welcome applications from those who have never travelled before as a sick pilgrim but would also welcome back those who have been with us in the past.  The cost to the Pilgrimage for the care of each sick pilgrim is in excess of €1,000 but because of the generosity of the people in the parishes through the Associate Membership, we are able to offer a much subsidised fare of €460.  However, if finances for a sick pilgrim are a problem, we may be in a position to offer a somewhat reduced fare.
